Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany was designed by Herzog and de Meuron in 2002. The facade system consists of ETFE pillows that are inflated by small air-pumps connected to a transportation system. The material allows for slight transparency; lights are attached to the steel skeleton around each bubble- they change color according the the team playing in the stadium. The facade is attached to a concrete structure; as it curves toward the top a steel truss system is applied.
