Room for creativity is essential for growth and diversity. Malden has celebrated new ideas and creativity in a variety of ways. Whether it be through the unique restaurants found at every corner or the numerous art centers and organizations found on the site. In a design that is quite orthogonal and clean, this project wishes to embrace moments of change. With a concrete structure and façade, the face of this building has used the most elementary shape- a rectangle- to create a pattern. As this pattern moves upward it gently increases in size to reveal a glowing space above. This glowing space is a black box theater sitting at a slight angle; the wooden walls are shifted to respond to the structure. This program is a wonderful addition to the arts program in Malden and we believe it encourages the art of music.
